DebtGuard Financial Literacy Program

The DebtGuard Financial Literacy Program is a 12-chapter self-study course that teaches
about the fundamental basics of Money, Debt and Credit.

The course was created to help individuals further understand their personal finances,
how to manage them in their everyday lives as well as learn how to modify their financial
behavior so they can make better financial decisions in the future.
Each chapter within the course should take about 30 minutes on average to study.
The 12 chapters included in the course are:
Chapter 1: Organizing Your Financial Life
Learn the eight basic areas to organize in your financial life.
Chapter 2: Budgeting and Savings
Learn about budgeting, spending plans and the types of savings vehicles.
Chapter 3: About Checking Accounts
Learn how to set up, use and manage a checking account properly.
Chapter 4: Securing Financial Needs
Learn the four basic financial needs when planning for the future.
Chapter 5: Basics of Credit Cards
Learn about credit cards, the down falls of them and how to read a statement.
Chapter 6: Focus on Debt
Learn about the different types of debt and how they work and affect you.
Chapter 7: Understanding Debt
Learn about Debt-to-Income Ratios, why they are important and how to manage them.
Chapter 8: Dealing with Unpaid Debts
Learn about unpaid debts, their consequences and how to deal with them.
Chapter 9: The Basics of Credit
Learn about the different types of credit, their cost and the three Cs of credit.
Chapter 10: Understanding Credit Reports
Learn what credit reports are, how they work, who can read them and how to obtain
Chapter 11: Credit Scores and Their Effects
Learn about credit scores, how they work and how they can affect your life.
Chapter 12: Your Guide to Homeownership
Learn how to purchase a home, what is takes to qualify for a loan and more.
In addition to the 12-chapter course, the program offers other financial sections such
as: various financial & credit terms, financial ebooks, financial resources, financial worksheets,
interactive exercises, crossword puzzles, financial flashcards and more.

What Do Graduates Receive?
Individuals that successfully pass the 60-question final exam within the course will be
registered into a national online database which can be accessed by the graduate to
verify their successful completion of the course.

In addition, each graduate can receive:
Certificate of Completion: Graduates can present this certificate to credit lenders, which
could entitle them to special incentives and discounts depending on the lender and type of
loan or credit applied for.
Credit Reporting Cards: These cards could increase your creditworthiness by adding a
positive statement to your credit file with TransUnion, Equifax & Experian, which can be
viewed by lenders as well as all credit inquiries.
